New Orleans Restaurant Renaissance

It is astonishing to believe that there are now more restaurants, and flourishing restaurants at that in New Orleans than there were in the summer of 2005, when Katrina hit. When the floods of 2005 hit, almost all restaurants were pretty much erased. Growth on top of recovery? How excellent!

And these aren’t restaurants that are average. Oh no! We are talking about nationally recognized, James Beard Award winners like Besh Steakhouse and Herbsaint. What a tough time to open a restaurant in the last five years in New Orleans. Perhaps it is true that we perform best when under the most pressure?
